It’s no secret that the coronavirus pandemic has caused many industries to shift to new ways of conducting business. Telehealth has opened doors for doctors and patients to connect from the comfort of their homes, during this time certain restrictions were waived in regards to the provision of telemedicine. It has become evident that Telehealth is here to stay and with the pandemic nearing a vaccine, more restrictions and policies may be put into place regarding telemedicine.
The American Telemedicine Association (ATA) commented on the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services’ (CMS) recent report of the proposed CY21 Physician Fee Schedule, regarding coverage of services that agencies are allowed to reimburse providers for. The ATA commented on the following topics:
The ATA is hoping to maintain the full potential of telemedicine as the pandemic begins to slow, they hope these recommendations will spread the message across the industry as well as to stakeholders. They hope to encourage people to use their position in the industry to advocate for continued and increased access to digital health.
